Update Elxis CMS

This is a general guide to update an Elxis installation to a newer version of the same generation (currently 2008.x). Each elxis update package is accompanied with usage instructions. Follow these instructions if they deffer from this guide. We are not responsible for any damage, such as data loss, this guide or the software provided by Elxis Team for the update, may cause to your site. Continue at your own risk.

Preparation

Make sure the update package is suitable for your Elxis version and server enviroment. Take a full backup of your Elxis files and database. Download the latest version of the Updiag tool. Notice that this tool maybe included in the update package. Updiag, as all elxis tools, is installed by simple upload of the updiag folder and files to the /administrator/tools directory.

Update elxis using Updiag tool

Download from Elxis Downloads Center the elxis update package that is suitable for your Elxis installation. Overwrite old elxis files with those provided in the update package.

Make sure that all files were updated and that you have an authentic elxis file system by checking it. To do so, login to Elxis administration go to Tools and click on the Updiag tool. Click to download latest hashes from elxis.org and check your file system against the proper hash file. Updiag will notify you if a file is missing or needs update.

When Updiag notifies you that everything is fine, click to download the required update script from elxis.org web site. Updiag will fetch the proper script and you will be prompt to run that script. The update script will make all the needed changes to your database if needed.
