Free seminars

Seminars schedule

Elxis Team invites you to free online educational seminars centered around Elxis CMS, as well as everything concerning the built of a web site. You choose the subject of the seminars by subjecting a request at the Elxis forum. The seminars, or the presentations, are announced here at least 5 days prior to their start date. To participate click on the specific icon next to each seminar.

In order to participate to the seminars you need to be equipped with:
1 DSL connection
2 Microphone and handset (if you wish to speak).
3 Attention and good mood.

Maximum number of participants per seminar is 20 people. Because of this limitation, if you do not intend to join a seminar, please do not apply a request, as you might take away someone elses chance to participate. If you are willing to host a lesson or present your own work contact the Elxis Team and we will gladly provide you with the classroom for the desirable time and date. Seminars are provided free of charge!

A basic introduction to PHP and MySQL This is an introduction to learning the subject of Php and MySql. Concepts of the language with a practical form example will show the user how a program is created. Materials will be provided as a guide along with a working program that combines PHP, HTML, and CSS to present an overall picture regarding the development of a program. The integration and use of MySql will also be discussed. Developing Elxis modules A guide on how we develop modules for Elxis. In this seminar all subjects related to modules development, such as XML parameters and multilingualism, will be discussed and we will also develop sample modules live for demonstration purposes. CSS Basics 2 In the second part of the CSS seminar we will refer to the CSS BOX, to the Margin, Padding, Border, Width and Height properties, to floating elements with examples on creating columns for a template and finally to positioning an element inside a document (Position and z-index). CSS Basics 1 The subject of this seminar is to get to know the CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). It will be a 2 parts seminar and -if necessary- a third session will take place in order to answer questions and give more examples. In the first part we will discuss about HTML and the necessity that led to CSS, basic syntax and we place CSS into a document. Afterwards we will show you how to format text properties such as color, background, font and text. We will also talk about formatting web links, and the differences between DIV and SPAN elements. Finally we will refer to grouping CSS by using class and ID. In order to attend the seminar basic HTML knowledge is required.
