Seminars schedule
Elxis Team invites you to free online educational seminars centered around Elxis CMS, as well as everything concerning the built of a web site. You choose the subject of the seminars by subjecting a request at the Elxis forum. The seminars, or the presentations, are announced here at least 5 days prior to their start date. To participate click on the specific icon next to each seminar.
In order to participate to the seminars you need to be equipped with:
1 DSL connection
2 Microphone and handset (if you wish to speak).
3 Attention and good mood.
Maximum number of participants per seminar is 20 people. Because of this limitation, if you do not intend to join a seminar, please do not apply a request, as you might take away someone elses chance to participate. If you are willing to host a lesson or present your own work contact the Elxis Team and we will gladly provide you with the classroom for the desirable time and date. Building components for Elxis CMS - part 2In this seminar we will develop live a simple component for Elxis CMS. As the available time of the seminar is limited we will build the very basic structure of the component which you can use later to built your own components. The component will follow the latest Elxis/PHP standards using object oriented programming (OO), an MVC-like architecture design, SEO PRO extension, multi-linguism, database queries, etc. The seminar will be performed in 2 parts. In the first part we will develop the basic component skeleton and its administration area. In the second part we will develop the frontend area of the component and we will also build the final installation package. In order to attend the seminar good knowledge of PHP, HTML and CSS is required and basic knowledge of javascript and database manipulation (MySQL). The available time was finally not enough to complete the seminar so we discussed only for the component
administration section. In a new seminar in the future we will complete the seminar by showing you how we
proceed with the development in the front-end section. Inside the
attached file you will find a short report on what we did during the seminar as well as the files
of the sample component Web Hosting up to the point we complete it. Use these files to
continue working on the component and complete it or as a base to build your own component for Elxis CMS.

The seminar was created to offer you the opportunity to learn how the language is used, what different parts of the
language do, and how PHP combined with MySQL can be very powerful. I am not sure if the seminar was too fast, too slow,
or too much material but I hope that the files that I have prepared give you a better perspective on how a program script
can be created.

CSS Basics 1The subject of this seminar is to get to know the CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). It will be a 2 parts seminar and -if necessary- a third session will take place in order to answer questions and give more examples. In the first part we will discuss about HTML and the necessity that led to CSS, basic syntax and we place CSS into a document. Afterwards we will show you how to format text properties such as color, background, font and text. We will also talk about formatting web links, and the differences between DIV and SPAN elements.
