Elxis 5.7 Daedalus brings a fresh look to the CMS, with a completely new default frontend template, a redesigned installer and visual improvements to the administration interface. This release also focuses on modernizing the codebase, improving JavaScript functionality, adopting current coding standards and ensuring compatibility with PHP 8.6.
New look and interface improvements
- New default frontend template Aegean. A modern, responsive template featuring multiple colour schemes.
- Fresh look for the Elxis installer.
- New CSS for the administration template Onyx.
- New CSS for the component extension manager.
- New sample content for the default content category Amazing discoveries.
- New images for the sample gallery.
- CSS improvements in various modules.
- Removal of the old default template Five from the public distribution, replaced by Aegean.
Code modernization and improvements
- PHP 8.6 compatibility.
- Adoption of PSR coding standards.
- Improvements to elxAjax, including the use of encodeURIComponent, removal of jQuery dependencies and other enhancements.
- Introduction of elxFetch, a new AJAX method based on the native JavaScript Fetch API. It provides an easy transition from elxAjax, using a compatible interface.
- Partial replacement of elxAjax with elxFetch across Elxis.
- Faster JavaScript method for sorting tables (elx5SortTable).
- Removal of deprecated get_magic_quotes_gpc() and get_magic_quotes_runtime() functions.
- Replacement of rand() and mt_rand() with the cryptographically secure random_int() function.
- Replacement of the deprecated curl_close() function with unset(), following PHP 8.5 changes.
- OpenSSL is now the first-priority encryption method.
- Removal of Twitter.
Administration and database tools
- Option to back up multiple selected database tables.
- New option in CPanel > Backup to count the rows of all database tables.
Fixes
- Fixed the use of deprecated null values in the DateTime function.
- Fixed the CSS/JS minifier when processing URLs containing query parameters.
- Fixed Libya's country name.
- Fixed the module gallery selector.
- Fixed setTimeout in the extensions installer, where the callback was incorrectly written as a string.
